The Red Branch was formed in November 2006 after I became disilussioned with my old guild (the GM bailed for another guild and left the running of it to his wife, who bless her soul, is not leadership material). I was pretty much second in command in that guild and after a few not so pleasant exchanges with the new GM, I decided I could no longer be a part of it. I publically appologized to the guild members and having already secured a position in another guild typed the dreaded /gquit. Within moments I had nothing but tells filling the screen asking why I quit and that I should start a guild of my own because these folk wanted to come along. One of the guys from the old guild who I respected a lot at the time said he'd help me run a guild and that I should go for it. I created a charter and within 40 minutes had 60+ members. That guy (who's name escapes me funilly enough) logged out at about the end of our first month of being and never returned. Leaving me as the only GM. Fortunately I have made some awesome friends and totally cool officers along the way. This guild remains a casual guild, although we've had a bit of a push in the direction of a raiding guild. However I will not force anyone to respec or change anything about their toons to stay in this guild. That being said, if you arent ready for a raid, you wont be invited. We have minimum requirements in our class forums for how each class is expected to be. So unless you want to raid, there is no pressure to be anything than what you already are. So why the name "The Red Branch" I have been asked. Some people have asked me if I was a communist, lol! The name Red Branch comes from the name of the assembly hall in Emain Macha (Northern Ireland). It was called "Craebh Ruadh" in Irish Gaelic. The Red Branch became a military order, who served as the king's personal bodyguard as well as defending Ulaid (Ulster) from other provinces. The men of Red Branch were an elite group of warriors. I thought that was a superb name for a guild. This guild has had lows and highs, but we've done most of it by ourselves. I am not a pug fan and encourage you all to be active and to help one another. The more we do together the more loot and stronger toons we have in the guild. This is a Family guild and I wont tolerate foul language in guild chat. You will be warned but excessive foul talk will get you demoted to the dog house. A lot of my real life friends and family are here so I am not worried about mass exodus's either, and threats dont worry me cos to be blunt I will boot the sorry butt of anyone who threatens anyone in this guild. I've had a few mass exodus's and those that are true have remained and will remain as this guild is going nowhere. How many other guilds can say that? Grass greener elsewhere... Bye have fun, absolutely no one is keeping you here!!! Everyone has the oportunity to progress in this guild, everyone. If you think that things are not fair or you are being blacklisted, please talk with me, I can be found online or at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
